Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries Elyes Hamza said all necessary conditions will be met to secure the grain harvest against fire and other risks.

Speaking during a visit to Kef governorate on Saturday, Hamza added that grain harvest for this year will be about 18 to 20 million quintals, including 12 million quintals of durum wheat.

Grain prices have been increased this year in response to the claims of producers and professional structures, the Minister recalled, stressing that a national strategy to achieve self-sufficiency in grain will be developed in the coming period and will aim to ensure all conditions for success in the next agricultural seasons.

Regarding the summer period, the Minister said efforts will be made to ensure a better water supply for all regions of the country, including dry areas.
