The world of the Green Economy is back with Ecomondo and Key Energy, the Italian Exhibition Group shows dedicated respectively to the circular economy and renewable energy.

The appointment starts tomorrow at the Rimini Expo Centre. With more than 1,400 exhibiting brands, an area of 130,000 square metres, over 30 delegations and more than 600 top buyers from 90 countries, thanks to the synergy with the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two events will bring technological innovations from the various worlds of the circular economy and renewable energy sources to the exhibition.

The calendar of 160 events, supervised by the technical-scientific committees of the two events, headed by Professor Fabio Fava from Bologna University (for Ecomondo) and engineer Gianni Silvestrini, director of Kyoto Club Italia (for Key Energy), includes 32 organised by the European Commission through its operational agencies, namely the European Research Executive Agency (REA), the European Mission A Soil Deal for Europe and CINEA (European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency).

Ecomondo and Key Energy 2022 will open tomorrow morning at 10.30 am in the South Hall, with an opening ceremony attended by IEG President Lorenzo Cagnoni, the Mayor of RImini Jamil Sadegholvaad, and Irene Priolo, Vice-President and Emilia-Romagna’s Regional Councillor for the Environment, Ecological Transition and Climate Change. The message sent by the Minister for the Environment and Energy Security, Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, who will be physically present at the event on Friday 11th November, will be read out.

This will be followed by the 11th edition of the States General of the Green Economy, promoted by the National Council for the Green Economy, dedicated this year to the challenges that the ecological transition imposes on Italian companies, also in light of the high costs of energy and raw materials and the climate crisis. During the day, the 2022 Report on the State of the Green Economy in Italy will also be presented, from which it emerges that, in the current historical period, 62% of companies see more reasons to embark on the road to ecological transition , seen as a strategic opportunity. The research also reveals a clear demand for more information since as many as 60% of the entrepreneurs interviewed had a level of knowledge considered generic and 5% knew absolutely nothing. Only 35% thought they were reasonably well-informed.

The first day of Key Energy, however, will host the conference entitled Disruptive energy scenarios for Italy, which will be attended by, among others, Key Energy’s Scientific Director Gianni Silvestrini, ENEA President Gilberto Dialuce, Andrea Ripa di Meana, GSE Sole Director, and Francesco La Camera, General

Manager of IRENA. The event will include the presentation of data from the a study by Elemens, outlining some of the possible new energy scenarios for Italy in light of the new European targets for 2030 and the high energy prices incurred since the onset of the war in Ukraine, which, as highlighted in the States General study, are set to remain higher in the short to medium term than in the past.
