From November 5th to 8th, Rimini, Italy, will host Ecomondo 2024, Italian Exhibition Group’s premier trade show for green technologies, focusing on Africa and global environmental challenges. Over 100 African representatives and delegations from 120 foreign nations are expected to attend.

Rimini (Italy), October 1, 2024 – With just one month to go until Ecomondo 2024, Europe’s flagship event for the circular and green economy, hosted by IEG – Italian Exhibition Group, the event will take place at Rimini Expo Centre, Italy, from November 5th to 8th. “This year’s edition will be more international than ever, with 900 buyers and delegations expected from 120 countries, including those from the Balkans, Sub-Saharan Africa, North Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America,” said IEG CEO Corrado Peraboni.

Maurizio Ermeti, President of IEG, stated, “Now in its 27th edition, the event will shine a spotlight on Africa and global environmental issues with a packed schedule of events.”
The Africa Green Growth Forum, alongside a robust global conference programme led by Ecomondo’s Scientific Committee, chaired by Professor Fabio Fava, will address topics such as the Mattei Plan, textile waste exports, and rising sea levels in the Mediterranean.

As Alessandra Astolfi, head of IEG’s Green&Technology Division, explained: “The Africa Green Growth Forum (Thursday, November 7th), organised by Ecomondo in collaboration with the Ministry for the Environment and Energy Security, the Mattei Plan’s Mission Structure under the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, and RES4Africa, will focus on the Mattei Plan’s role in establishing a Centre of Excellence in Morocco. This centre aims to train renewable energy experts for the entire African continent. Other key topics include energy, agriculture, the circular economy, and socio-economic development in Kenya.”
The Mattei Plan is also driving biofuel supply chain development in Africa and promoting waste recovery, such as used cooking oil, through Eni’s initiatives. Supported by the Italian Climate Fund and the International Finance Corporation (World Bank Group), $210 million has been allocated to benefit over 200,000 small agricultural enterprises.

Other notable events include “Rising sea levels in the Mediterranean, the forgotten threat” (Wednesday, November 6th), organised by Ecomondo and UfM, and “Accelerating blue interregional cooperation in the Mediterranean basin” (Thursday, November 7th), co-hosted by Ecomondo, Cluster BIG Blue Italian Growth, and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. On Friday, November 8th, the discussion will turn to “Urban textile and second-hand waste exportation,” organised by Ecomondo and UNIRAU.

The full and regularly updated programme is available at the official event link.
