President of the National Organising Committee (NOC) of the 18th Summit of the Francophonie Moncef Sassi said 91 of 110 high-level participations in this event have been confirmed.

The Summit is expected to take place on November 19 and 20 on the island of Djerba.

At the 3rd meeting of the NOC of the summit, held Monday at the headquarters of the municipality of Djerba-Midoun, Sassi stressed that the rate of progress of preparations has reached 85%. In ten days the island of Djerba will be ready to welcome its guests, he assured.

There is still work of aesthetic lighting to engage in the streets of Djerba, he added.

The president of the NOC called on municipalities to mobilise night cleaning teams and change the location of weekly markets, especially that of Houmt Souk.

Governor of Medenine Said Ben Zayed denied any closure of the Island on the occasion of the Summit, saying all spaces will remain open during the days of the summit. Exceptional security and road measures will be taken to ensure the success of this major event, he pointed out.
