The trade deficit at current prices has worsened by nearly 50%, to 6.6 billion dinars at the end of April 2022, against 4.4 billion dinars during the same period of 2021, according to statistics published Thursday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

This decline is due to an increase in imports (+30.3%) at a higher rate than exports (24.6%).
The value of imports during the first four months of 2022 amounted to 25.5 billion dinars (against 19.6 billion dinars in April 2021), while exports stood at 18.9 billion dinars (against 15.2 billion dinars in April 2021).
Tunisia has a deficit with Italy, (3.6 billion dinars of imports), China (2.7 billion dinars), Turkey (1.9 billion dinars), and Spain (1 billion dinars).
