President of the Republic Kaïs Saïed on Tuesday evening went to the Interior Ministry seat, where he was received by Minister Taoufik Charfeddine and the department’s senior officials.

The Head of State called for “a relentless war against speculators who seek to starve Tunisians and undermine social peace.

“The fight against speculation channels must be pursued relentlessly and obviously under the law,” he insisted.

Saied pointed out that a presidential decree on distribution channels will be ready shortly to set the objectives of the fight against speculation and monopolisation.

The President of the Republic called in this regard, the Public Prosecutor’s Office to take action and enforce the law against “these criminals” who seek to sow chaos in all regions of the country.

“The country did not see this speculation phenomenon in December 2010 and after January 14, 2011, which means that it is a premeditated act,” he decried.

The President however reassured Tunisians that the State is carrying on its fight against these practices. “Patriotic men and women are endeavouring according to the law to meet the citizens’ needs and offer them a decent life,” he affirmed.
