Tdiscount signs partnership with Egypt’s Al Araby to launch largest industrial unit of home appliances in Tunisia

The Tunisian Group Tdiscount signed a partnership agreement with the Egyptian group Al Araby on Thursday, to launch the largest industrial unit of home appliances in Tunisia.

This unit will serve North Africa, French-speaking African countries and Europe.

The agreement was signed on the occasion of the 17th edition of the Tunisian-Egyptian High Joint Commission, meeting May 12 and 13 in Tunis.

This industrial unit will be based in a regional development area. It will cover an area of 14,000 m2, and will mobilise investments of 15 million U.S. dollars (nearly 46 million dinars), in equal parts between the two groups over 5 years. It will recruit over 700 direct employees and 1000 indirect employees over the next five years.

The Tunisian Group Tdiscount is one of the players in e-commerce of high-tech products, home appliances and computers on the Tunisian market.

Egypt’s Al Araby group is one of the largest producers of home appliances in the Middle East.
