The Average Money Market Rate (MMR) increased to 7.23% in October 2022, against 7.03% in September and August 2022 and 7.02% in July 2022, according to statistical data released by the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT) Tuesday.
This increase is explained by the decision taken by the Executive Board of the BCT, on October 5, 2022, to raise the bank’s key rate by 25 basis points to 7.25%, to mitigate the “upside risks surrounding the future path of inflation.»
The MMR reached, in October 2022, its highest level since March 2020 (7.35%), after a peak of 7.90% recorded a year earlier, in March 2019.
