” A new development approach in Africa which rests on social justice and human rights is needed today, ” President of the Republic Kais Saïed said at the opening of the “Tokyo International Conference on African Development” (TICAD 8) on Saturday.
“It is no longer tolerable that the African people who have enormous wealth should endure social injustice and be denied development,” Saied said in an opening speech.
The Head of State said there is need to invent new mechanisms to secure development in Africa. Stable political regimes, social justice and human rights as enshrined in international law are prerequisite conditions to attain sought resuts.
“We need to take together a new step forward in the history of Mankind and prospect the future to secure success,” Saied highlighted.
The President hailed the experience of Japan which managed to rise as world leader in a very short time, while preserving its traditions and culture.
“With their rich experience, their resources and vision, our Japanese partners will help us attain our development goals and meet our aspirations for peace and happiness.
TICAD 8, the Head of State said, offers the opportunity to discuss many issues and cast a critical eye on the past in order to enter a new phase together, the ultimate purpose being to provide conditions conducive to development and the creation of employment and wealth.
” We have to catch with progress and build a new Africa for a people who have endured instability for a long time and suffered from the lack of resources and imbalanced international relationships.”
TICAD 8 is held in Tunisia on August 27-28 with attendance of over 300 participants.
