Industrial production has declined by 1.2% in the third quarter of 2022, compared to the previous quarter, according to the results of the industrial production index published by the National Institute of Statistics (INS) Tuesday.
This decrease is due to the decline recorded in the extractive industry by 4.8% and manufacturing industry by 0.5%. Indeed, production is down in the energy sector (-3%), agricultural and food industries (-4.6%), mining (-15.9%) and oil refining (-7.5%).
Industrial production up 2.3% on monthly basis
In monthly variation, the industrial production posted an increase of 2.3%, in September 2022, against a 1.9% decrease during the previous month, thanks mainly to the rise in the production of energy by 5.3%, textile, clothing and leather (+4.6%), chemical industry (+2%) and mechanical and electrical industries (+2.6%).
On the other hand, decreases were recorded in the sectors of building materials ceramic and glass (1.7%) and refined oil products (-1.7%).
The production of the agricultural and food industries and miscellaneous manufacturing sectors remained almost stable with respective developments of 0.3% and 0.8%.
