The procuring raw materials remains one of the main obstacles faced by manufacturing companies, reveals a survey on the situation and prospects of these companies in the third quarter 2022 published by the National Institute of Statistics Monday.
Besides supply, these companies mention other difficulties related to the marketing of their products and the lack of demand, said the survey, which was conducted from August 15 to October 10 in a sample of 989 manufacturing companies.
Regarding the general situation of the sector, the INS reported a slight decline in the balance of opinion in the third quarter of 2022 (8%), compared to the second quarter of 2022 (13%) and a stabilisation is expected in the fourth quarter.
As for industrial production, the balance of opinion of business leaders in the sector recorded a slight increase to 6% compared to 1% during the second quarter of 2022. A decline is expected in the fourth quarter, says the Institute.
In terms of external demand for industrial materials, business leaders report a decline compared to the second quarter of 2022. It is expected that this decline will continue more sharply in the fourth quarter of 2022.
Regarding the development of industrial production by sector, the INS reveals that the balance of opinions of business leaders saw an improvement in the sectors of textiles, clothing, ready-to-wear; leather; chemical and food industries in the third quarter of 2022.
On the other hand, a slight decline was noted in the building materials, ceramics and glass sectors.
