President of the Tunisian Confederation of Industry, Trade and Handicrafts (UTICA) Samir Majoul discussed ways to boost economic cooperation between Tunisia and Italy, as he met President of the General Confederation of Italian Industry (Confindustria) Carlo Bonomi on Friday in Rome.
Emphasis was placed on increasing Italian investments in Tunisia, particularly in promising fields such as the technological and digital sector and renewable and clean energy, UTICA said in a statement.
The meeting also tackled the private sector’s efforts to revive economic growth around the world that saw regression due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
It was agreed to plan a number of business events and forums in several areas of common interest, according to the same source.
The meeting took place on the occasion of the Tunisian participation, on March 10, in the 2022 Ordinary General Assembly of the Union of Mediterranean Confederations of Enterprises (BUSINESSMED).
UTICA is a founding member of BUSINESSMED, which brings together the employers’ organisations of 19 Mediterranean countries, and whose official headquarters are in Tunisia.
